The Waiting House

Welcome to a pilot and family friendly alternative to staying in a motel.

My name is Dusty Rhodes, My wife and I run a vacation rental here in Southern California.
We call it the "waitinghouse" It has always felt like the house was just waiting for visitors.
Our house sits at the foothills of the San Bernardino mountains. Which happens to have some of the best foot launched flying in the world. I have been flying both hang gliders and paragliders for the past 12 years. Our goal has been to provide a quite, clean, safe, affordable place to stay for visiting pilots and their families. And at this time we would like to open this invitation to anyone visiting So Cal.
This home was built in 1918 as part of the historic Devore ranch. We lovingly restored it back in 2007.
This beautiful home sits on 1.1 acres surrounded by a dozen olive trees that over 100 years old. There is a seasonal stream on the property. With luck it may be running during your visit.
It is 900 square feet and comes fully furnished with:
3 Bedrooms, Kitchen, Dining room, Living room, 1 full Bath (with original cast iron claw foot tub)
1 Queen size bed, 1 Full size bed, 1 twin size bed, 1 futon (living room), air mattress if needed
Washer and dryer, (RV dump available on request )
Free Internet ( DSL )
The water supplied to the house by the Devore Water Co is some of the best tasting on the planet, the source is in the mountains you see looking out the kitchen window.
As far as vacation travel this house perfect. It is less than a 1 hour drive time from the beach, mountains, desert, Los Angles, Palm Springs, Etc. Not to mention it's just minutes north of the California Speedway also known as Auto Club Speedway. and just down the street is San Manuel Amphitheater formerly Glen Helen Pavilion. We try hard to keep it ready at all times for those visiting on a short notice.
